Cody Brooks gets “Dirty” with new Southern Session

Cody Brooks has a voice which demands attention.

At first listen, the grit, growl and howl come to the forefront and influences such as Tommy Dorsey, Robert Johnson, Hank Snow, Son House and Jimmy Hendrix are all evident in Cody Brooks work and his “Handshake” EP.

Brook’s latest effort was produced by Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo and Wilco) and the two mix elements of jazz, blues and rock as both traded spots on instruments as well.

For the Southern Manners team, it was great to catch up with Cody Brooks and Ken Coomer for the track “Dirty.” The video was recorded at Coomer’s East Nashville Studio.
